NAD: 2023 Ampeg V-4B Reissue

Happy new amp day to me...a couple of days late.

After searching for an all-tube amp forever, I picked up this as-new, second hand Ampeg V-4B Reissue for a good price.

I'm pairing it with my Bergantino NXV212 at the moment, and it sounds great but as you can see it's a bit too wide and looks a bit weird. I'm contemplating an SVT212AV, but the Berg cab does sound incredible. Maybe a pair of SVT210AV cabs would be a better option?

I'm loving the V-4B so far, but have only tried it at low volumes. I think it's much closer to the sound I'm hearing in my head, but I'll let my next gig be the judge of that.
It's a tad bigger and heavier than I realised, but I've had it too easy with class D stuff for the past decade

*For those interested, this is a Yamaha made (2023) V-4B. I've not seen any reports of QC issues after Yamaha took over, so here's hoping it's going to be a solid forever amp.

I've owned a V4B for about 20 years now and it is THE sound for me. Back about 6-7 years ago I got tired of lugging it around and went to Mesa gear but still use the V4B exclusively for recording and home use. About 2 months ago I switched to the Quad Cortex and captured my V4B. It's now my main rig again!

I love my V4B-RI. It's such a great amp.

I wasn't a fan of the SVT-210AV cabs at all. Like you, I was considering a 212AV but didn't end up going that direction. I ended up with a pair of Barefaced Two10S cabs which have been great for everything I've thrown at them.

I also have a Bergantino NV610 which sounds phenomenal with it. Realistically, every cab I've used with it has been great. Sealed, ported, vintage tone, modern tone...the amp just sounds good!

I don't have it any more, but a 1975 V4B with the Ampeg 8x10 cab was the best sounding amp I ever had. It is just too much to carry around any more.

Yes that T shaped look can be distracting but make sure SVT212 OR 210'S still makes Amp sound great as with Berg; My guess [don't know for sure] but Berg is possibly far superior to Ampegs

I'm definitely going to give it a whirl with the Berg for a few months then decide. Two NXV212 would be a hell of a rig!
