Hey Fellas , EB'er here but I scored an amp some of you know well so I'd thought I'd ask . An old AI Focus 600 watter . I'll be using it 100% for Electric bass , Fender '51 style , Dingwall AB-1 all over the map there but I was wondering which input you prefer to use most of the time . I just got it and fired it up with a EA wizzy 12 and it sounds fantastic , in fact I liked on both of those inputs very much so I'm not sure if I should stick with one or the other perhaps there is a more noticeable difference with a acoustic bass pickup ? With the single coil use mostly it has a wonderful tone either way .Kind of a head scratcher but I thought I would need a preamp too but it seems just fine without one but I'm ready with a BDDI or belt clip Sadowsky outboard and I'll give it a whirl later for fun. Double Bass NAD AI Focus ?

For a number of years (and still one of my fav's) I used a Sansamp Paradriver into the effects return of my Focus I. Still one of the best combinations I've used. The Focus has more headroom than many other class D's I've used.
Just go from the BDDI out, into the effects return on the Focus. Turn the effects blend all the way up. Then use the master on the Focus as your master volume and the volume on the Sansamp as your channel volume. Works well.

I will certainly try that Thanks . I do like the sound of the amps pre though , very clear and rich sounding but warm and punchy too .
so I kicked it around for a while today and man what a fantastic amp ! I'm still not sure which way I like it , it sounds good either way but I'm leaning towards using the outboard with it , it gave up massive killer tones and pretty much just made it even better . pics !
