NAD - Ampeg Micro VR & 210AV

Always nice to see a couple fans crawl out of the woodwork to trash GC. Thousands of boxed cabinets are sold online and they are assumed to be working. And as usual Ampeg gets the free ride and no mention is made of QC on their part. Sorry for my sarcasm but it's pretty obvious that some people like to bash GC.

I don't think there's much to bash anyone about here. The cab didn't work. Happens. Return it and get another one and be happy a few days later than you hoped.

GC was very helpful here. The exchange was smooth and flawless. I opted to take the online order into the store for the exchange and everybody I encountered was more than accomodating.

In the end I got a fantastic-sounding home practice setup that I can scale into a suitable gigging rig.

Honestly, both the amp and the cab are undergoing warranty work. The 210AV blew again, so we suspect there is an issue with the Micro VR itself. Looking forward to getting them back. I'll report back once I do.

Well, the speakers were replaced under warranty but the amp was deemed okay. I took it straight to rehearsal where I inflicted Ric-O-Sound upon them (neck pickup, bridge was pushed into Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 and the Ampeg 810). The Micro and 210 held their own. So far so good!

Ok, Take the front grill off, speakers out and check the connections, plus check for bad solder joints on the back connector.

I wouldn't do that. I'd send it back and insist on a new unit. Why should the OP have to try and fix it?

Resurrecting this thread.

Flipped on the Micro and it was like a switched on a time machine.

The exact same thing happened. Speaker hum, then kaput.

I THINK the head is still under warranty. Going to call Ampeg and see what they suggest. This would be the third 210AV it has consumed.

Gosh, I hope it’s not “it’s supposed to be pushing two 210av’s. Were you playing it through two or only one 210av?”. I really hope that they stand behind this one.
