After waiting for two months, I can now say that I'm a very proud owner of an Ampeg V4B and 2x12 SVT-AV rig! I decided to put a bit of money into my amp this time around and I can tell it's going to pay off as I absolutely love this amp. Every note through each one of my basses comes through with punch and tube warmth, and I feel that the natural character of each one of my basses really shines through. My Fender Jazz is really growly and punchy even with the old GHS flats on them, and my precision is thumpy and shakes the room with each note. My Carvin is just ridiculously ballsy and growly - a fantastic rock n' roll tone with sustain for days!
The biggest plus for me is the weight - the 40lb tube head is light enough to carry around, and the cab isn't too much of a hassle either. The rig just looks absolutely gorgeous to boot - very classy with the black tolex and blue/silver grill alongside the metal faceplate. I could just stare at this amp in awe, it's just a nice amp overall!
I can't see myself getting rid of this anytime soon, I can't wait for my first gig to try it out!
Oh, and I got the cab on July 8th but I had to wait an additional two months for the head due to Yamaha's acquisition of Ampeg. My head was manufactured by Yamaha in July of this year!
