Was going to just update the mod thread but I'm so pleased with the results that I think this little guy is practically a new amp and deserves it's own topic.
Started off as this sad, rusty Rumble 15 picked up on Craigslist.
Mods:
-Cut/ground about a quarter inch off 3 sides of the grill.
-DeRusted and repainted grill and covered with silver face grill cloth.
-Chrome corners and handle hardware
- Removed control panel plastic label/laminate and polished to a matte finish
-Dry transfers and vintage Chessie railroad logo decal applied to control panel.
-Radio Shack Knobs.
-Lots of paint and glue touchups to screws, nuts, back panel, etc. Hooray for emery cloth and paint markers!
The only thing I planned to do but didn't was to remove the carpet and repaint with black texture paint. Decided stripping allot of glue from particle board is not worth it and as is the carpet doesn't detract to much from the overall look.
My original aim was to buy a cheap, cool looking living room amp to be in close proximity to the bass case to jam when the mood strikes. Unfortunately, the places I was looking to put it would have made the top-rear mounted controls of most current budget options tough to reach.
This solves all that, and I've only got about 50 bucks into it including the amp!
