Not sure where your from in New Jersey,but Dave Sarge in State College,Pa. is a amp guru,especially Mesa's...he worked for them for a while. He picks up equipment repairs at Rainbow Music in St. College(last I heard). But,maybe all you need is a "few"tubes and all will be good!!

I don't believe Mesa is very responsive to email which is why I recommended that you call.

Not my experience (and obvious not Lubin's)
Asked several times for info on old gear (most eighties stuff) and never waited more than one day for reply.

If you buy a new set of Mesa tubes, install both new ones and use the old good tube (of the bad pair) as spare. Should be plug 'n play, unless your amp has had the Bias mod (adjustable Bias)

I've found that if you supply your model number and serial number at the top and any required info, Mesa will get back to you pretty quickly.

It is possible to remove the handles - however, its not an easy task, and its something we don't recommend from a protection stand-point. They are meant to be racked as-is, with the handles. Thanks!

This is seriously the loudest and craziest amp I've ever owned. I'm not sure I'm man enough for it. It seriously frightens me.

What tubes were replaced? Did it have bias mod?

I replaced 2 pairs of 6L6's with 2 new matched sets.

According to Mesa, the amp is permanently biased at the factory and should never need biasing.

Scored this Mesa Boogie Bass 400+ locally. It's not functioning due to a blown fuse, so I took a gamble on it. Brought it home, popped it open and the first thing I noticed was that one power tube had a hairline crack in the glass and the glass was milky. Went to remove it and it shattered. That was probably the culprit that blew the fuse. Gotta admit - these things are built like tanks!

I'll give it a thorough in-depth inspection and cleaning, install the new 6L6 tube, new fuse, and lube the pots tomorrow. Should be good to go to give up thick, rich, tubey goodness.

Anyone know how to date these things? Can't find any signs of a handwritten date on the inside, only the serial number on the label.
