Double Bass nad (Small letters intentional)

Just got a Phil Jones Double Four. Just in time for a Living Room Gig I have this Friday.

I've played my bass through my Ischell C3 with the 1/4 adapter through the Double Four and it sounds awesome.

If you use an FDeck on the Double Four to deal with the low end you can get a pretty unbelievable amount of volume out of them.

Actually, I never had an AI amp. I used to put my Genz Benz Shuttle 6.2 in that space - it fit almost perfectly. That head is no sitting on top of the GK Neo 112 speaker.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll throw it in the tiny duffel bag with the amp. It's one of those pieces of gear I have owned but never really used. Now it will probably be useful.

I remember now that it was mostly the extra gain that the HPF provided that helped the volume on the Double 4, but taming the lows helped, too.

@rickwolff What model is that MAS? What size is it, it seems similar to the PJB bass cub-100. How's that Genzler amp?

@dylanjohnson have you tried that with the bass cub-100? Kind of scare to push it too far...

That's the original MAS 16.

I love the Genzler amp. Very versatile. But the Double Four is 1/4 the weight.

I love the Genzler amp. Very versatile. But the Double Four is 1/4 the weight.

That's the tricky part, that's why I like my bass cub-100. But it's just not loud enough sometime.

If your experience with the Double Four is anything like mine, you will be really pleased. I use mine on two different gigs weekly. The light weight and volume potential are the keys to my happiness.

Great sounding micro amp! Mine benefited greatly from boosting and impedance matching the signal to the input. I used a Fishman Platinum stage for this and it worked well.

After I bought the amp I didn't have money to buy a complete set of matched strings (just kidding). See my serious answer below.

I get great results with a Double 4 and an old Fishman Platinum pre. It easily handles a "normal" jazz gig with horns and drums. Does anyone have experience with the Red Eye pre and the Double 4? It would save a few ounces and space in the backpack if it could replace the Fishman.
