Wow, a lot of great songs here.

Almost all of Joy Division's songs were bass driven. Most of the lines are fairly simple, but all are effective. My favs are:

Love Will Tear Us Apart

Also - I haven't seen a lot of reggae mentioned. Reggae would be lost without the bass
