name that ampeg

guitar player from the band i am playing right now, owns this great ampeg bass amp, it is a beast! I searched for it on the internet and found anything.

I am askin you all experts with tones of experience if someone knows this model, and could give me some advices about it, coz i am playing with this amp all the time now, and i love it!! dont wanna be missig out some features or doing any damage to it.

VT-40? 100w tube 4x10 combo... think it's a guitar amp but probably does sound great for bass too. Mostly a guess

It's an SVT-140TC. I had one in the '90's.

Solid state head with a 4x10 cab, made from about 1988 to about 1990. It's capable of 200 watts, but I think you'd have to have an external cab to get that. It was rated at 140 watts by itself. There was also a head only version.

so how it was for you? why did you get rid of it?

It was fine, but I bought an early '70's SVT and then I didn't want to use anything else for some strange reason....until I got my Mesa 400, that is.


P.S. - The Ampeg book has the SVT-140 as only being produced in 1987. Tnis is inconsistent with my memory, so I looked in my '91 catalogue, and it shows up in that, so I'm right. Hah! Anyway, I think thay reversed the stats with the SVT 100 (tube head, not the dinky combo), which was only made in '87.
