Name that bass

A friend has a 70's MIJ Penco (who ever thought that was a cool name at the Matsumoko factory?) It has these similar tuners and is a spot-on replica of a Fender Jazz bass, this one a block/bound 20 fret maple necked ash bodied natural. The name on the hs (whichever one they chose for it) was probably removed. It's a great bass actually - as good or better than an equally vintage Fender.

Yesterday I visited Apollo Music in Copenhagen.
The owner confirmed that he distributed the Navigator brand in the eighties and also sold this bass back then.
It was made the second of February 1987.
So there you have it. Mystery solved. The bass has now been named and dated.

Thanks for your help.

Hi again

A few thing happened since last time.
I found a guy who has a Navigator stratocaster with serial number 10015 which is only the 8th produced Navigator instrument since mine.
He was kind enough to take a few pics of the logo for me.
I then tried to make my own waterslide decal and I think I got pretty close considering that many of that times navigators came with the logo as stickers anyways. What do you think?

And since I had the waterslide production going on I thought of this:
Can't help you, but love hearing the "Ugly Duckling" story.
- and went online digging to see if I could find something to put on the Ugly Duckling.
I Think I found the right thing. :)

Funny thing is that I almost traded this bass away the same day I got it and the guy who turned it down (good thing he did) lives in Odense which is the birthplace of H.C. Andersen.
