rubber cement on dust cap?

Hard epoxy for dust caps only. Rubber cement won't do.

If it turns out to not be the cap, will the extra seal shirt anything?

Use the correct stuff it will only add slightly to the moving mass. Too thin it can run down any "holes" and ruin the speaker, too thick it won't flow where you need it.

This a rubber solvent based used for replacement [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] , I don't have a handy source for epoxy repair.

OK. I'll take care; however, now I'm thinking it'd the spider. I press down on a point of that, in the same area and the buzz stops as well. I have no idea what I'm doing, lol, but I'm guessing that's a different beast all together.
