Naming a band after the writer?

How do you guys feel about/perceive a band named after/referencing the main writer of a band and should I do it?

I'm asking this because I'm recording an EP and don't know what to call the "band" behind it because I wrote all the material myself. I'm thinking about one that references my real name but am unsure if it really clicks. I'm not entirely comfortable portraying the band as me, me, me either. I also don't think that bands with writer reference names are taken very seriously nowadays unless you're a singer songwriter. OTOH I have another name that would fit the sound of this EP but it may not fit other material I plan to record.

For purposes of this thread let's say it's Joe's Ten Gallon Hat vs. Death Machine Part Deux

JTGH is a little more open to interpretation of what they might sound like, whereas, with DMPD, there's a much more clear cut idea unless irony is their bag (which mine is not).

So what should I do? Go with a slightly more "open-to interpretation, reference my own name, but may not fit just right" name, or a
"name that makes sense for the EP's sound but only the EP's sound and no future change of said sound"

Joshe Homme wrote all the material for the first QOTSA album. I'd say come up with a band name, especially if you want to have other musicians in your band writing music with you in the future.

Kinda punky I guess but better musicianship than a typical punk band. But that's just for this EP

That's something I forgot to mention bands like QOTSA or NIN have names that sound like full bands despite there being one writer but these bands also have a certain set sound and that's where my dilemma comes in. A band name that portrays one sound or one that's more ambiguous

For a punky type band, even tho you are writing the music, I would not name it after yourself.
