Namm 2016: *New* Fender Elite Series

It looks like Fender is replacing the deluxe series with a new "Fender American Elite Series".

So far I have found info on a Jazz Bass (4 and 5 string, white, black, 3tsb) in the line but no pics yet.

Here are the 5 string specs:

Fender American Elite Jazz Bass V RW OWT, 5-string electric bass, alder body, maple neck, compound neck shape, rosewood fretboard, 21 frets, long scale, 12,7-35,6cm radius (5"-14"), bone nut, 2x 4th Generation Noiseless Jazz Bass single coils, onboard active 18V preamp, HiMass vintage bridge, standard strings: Fender 7250M (#145032), finish: olympic white, incl. Fender Elite Molded Case

So where would that flatten out to the standard 9" radius, around the 9th - 10th fret ? My math is a little rusty.

5" - 14" would probably be "normal radius" in that 7-9 fret sweet spot, by my guess. I completely get the compound radius, I just don't know that there is a need for 5" at the nut, as even 7.25" is too round for most players.

Would think that is a typo somewhere. Current radius on American Deluxe 5 is 9.5" to 14".

The video quite clearly shows that the strats both have a Musicman-esque truss wheel. That is something plenty of guys around here have been asking for for as long as I can remember.

I guess it's still alive and well in the guitar world. I'd hope they have enough sense to leave the S-1 off any P bass they might release soon. Still a cool feature to have on a Jazz though.

I have one of those too, in the exact same finish, but it is not nearly as nice. With that said, they should reissue these, that would be very cool!

I have an Elite I Gold in that color! (You can see it in my avatar) Everyone who plays it hates the neck but me...

I also have a trans green I and a sunburst II that I had defretted in the early '90s. Love those basses!

If these compounds are anything like those on the Selects, it would raise my eyebrows. Most comfortable Fender neck that I have ever played.

I just bought a 3 tone sunburst American Deluxe Jazz Bass with rosewood for $1399. The American Standard is the same price! I can't wait.
