NAMM MTD $2750!!!!!!!??!?!!

It's an especially hard rosewood (pau ferro means ironwood, after all), I think. So I'd put it more towards the "ebony" side of the scale than the "rosewood" (meaning the softer Indian or Palisander rosewoods used for the typical Fender rosewood fingerboard) side.

Brad,

I know I'm getting way off topic here, but do I understand you correctly as saying that the maple neck Jazz sounds like a jazz with a maple neck and Pau Ferro fretboard?

I've been eyeing those FMT 5s, but one reason that I'm holding back is that they don't come with an all maple neck. If what you say is true, my GAS for an FMT 5 may take control of me.

I wanted a Maple board 5 string too, after I got my Ash/Maple 78 Jazz. Went to Bass Palace and checked out a MIA JD5 with Maple board... it sounded just about the same as my MIA JD5's.

My FMT 5 has about all the snap and growl I need for slapping, with some to spare. If I were you I'd definitely check out an FMT V.

While we're off the subject, what do you suppose possessed Fender to not offer something as simple as a Maple board on the FMT fives? That just seems plain old stupid to me:). I've been meaning to email them, the answer ought to be a hoot.
