Nano or Nano+

Hi -

So I'm putting together a pedalboard and want to keep it small and efficient. For background, I'm playing an active bass (but try to keep the boost from the OBP-1 minimal). Amp is a Quilter BB800, so no effects loop. I'm running into the pedals and then out into the amp. In general, I'm not really and effects type of player and will probably go clean (except tuner and compression) 80% of the time.

Right now, here's what I'm using/planning in terms of effects:

• Korg Pitchblack Tuner
• MXR Studio Compressor
• Mooer Bass Sweeper (envelope filter)
• Mooer Ensemble Queen (bass chorus)
• EBS Octabass

This setup will fit on a Pedaltrain Nano but probably won't leave room for much else. A Nano+ would allow the addition of a pedal or two, but I'm not really sure what more I'd need in the future. While a different project may require different pedals, not sure I'd need more for any single situation, so I could always swap out.

Still, potential additional for ANY setup could include...

• Xotic X Blender or Radial Mix Blender to allow me to mix wet and dry signals?
• Some type of isolated power supply (but if needed, couldn't this go under the board)?

However, I could also always go to a smaller width tuner and/or octave to free up space on the board, if necessary.

So what are everyone's thoughts and rationale?

I've used both. In my opinion, there are two possible advantages to the nano.
1. You can attach it to your gigbag.
2. It fits in the mono tick which is much better quality than the pedaltrain bags.

If neither of those aspects appeal to you, then I think it makes sense to go with the nano+ so you have that little bit of extra space.

I stick to Nanos because those fit in the Tick Case that came with my Mono Gig bag.

You can fit low profile power supplies, like the Cioks DC5 underneath the Nano. The Nano will fit 4-5 normal sized pedals pretty easily if they've got top mounted jacks. So those can be handy to have on your pedals. Also, for really limited use effects maybe look into some sorta multi effect. I use an Eventide H9 to give me Octave, Chorus and Reverb since I don't use those often, additionally it's my tuner. So there are a lot of space savings there. Also I've become a huge fan of those flat EBS cables, there is some real space savings there also.

The Donner tuner is not the fastest, its display can't be as big as the Korg, but to make up for the size the whole thing lights up green when you're in tune and to me at least it makes it worthwhile to consider downsizing your tuner to fit the rest on the board.

I have a Korg clone (monoprice), don't have the sweeper or EBS, but otherwise I have all those pedals and like how they sound together. Consider the Boss LS-2 if you want some dry mix too.

I voted plus in the event that you upgrade or stumble upon great deals for different chorus or envelope. The Mooer pedals are small and great for what they do but if you're looking for anything else you'll have a hard time fitting it.

i voted Nano+ as well. this was my first board and although i could fit all i wanted on it i found sometimes it was hard to get my big foot on just one footswtich, as it was quite cramped. I ended up trading up to a Metro 16.
I guess what ive learnt from this is give yourself room to activate them without hitting more than one in the heat of the moment.
