Double Bass Nashville bass players with guts!

Hey there,

I just moved to the Nashville area (lived in Boston for a year, nyc prior to that, originally from Rochester, NY). I'm really interested in getting to know some musicians, as quickly as possible; I'm also interested in getting some good gut strings on my bass!

To that end, I was wondering if there are any Nashville bass players who use gut strings, and if we could get together and jam some time! Heck, even if you're not a gut-user, I'd love to meet you and play a little bit. I play jazz, folk, bluegrass and lots of other stuff (and I'm also a trombonist).

I'm a Nashville gutophile . It's probably going to be hard for me to get together with you before the new year but get in touch after then.

Some Nashville gut players to check out:

Dennis Crouch -- great player, plays with the Time Jumpers at the Station Inn on Mondays. Busy session player these days too.

Dave Roe -- amazing slapper. He plays with the Don Kelly Band at Robert's Western World. The last time I was there Dave wasn't playing but they had another young guy from Memphis who was great too. A lot of the guys that play down on Lower Broadway who play rockabilly and traditional country are into gut.

TBer Kent Blanton (aka Superman) is another great guthead. He's very knowledgable about strings, players and music history. I've seen Kent playing with Marty Stuart and other Opry acts.

And the young Memphis player Bobby is talkin' about is Slick Joe Fick (At least I think that's who it is). I believe he's now playin' with The Silver Threads. I think they do some gigs at Roberts Western World.
