Natural bass tone?

Hey everyone, I'm just wondering what settings my amp should be at to avoid distorting my bass's natural tone. I have a hofner at the moment. when i plug it into my yamaha clavinova it has the nice natural hofner thump.

side note, i have an acoustic b20

All amplifiers colour tone to varying degrees, but setting the amp's eq and tone shaping filters to their central/neutral positions should give the clearest most natural tone your amp can produce.

The best way to hear your basses natural tone is to not plug it into an amp. All amps have their own characteristics and add to the tone.
