Thanks for the replies I'm going to have to investigate these other sugestion with the exception of the vt bass as its more of a character pedal and not really what I'm looking for. Keep the voting going, I'm a bit surprised the boss bass od is leading.

The Boss is leading because more people use it (and probably haven't tried much else). It can be dialed in subtle if you're patient, but there's nothing natural about it.

Man that darkglass microtubes b3k is exactly what I'm looking for, too bad the 324$ pricetag is beyond my reach. I'm thinking the EBS multidrive is as close to the darkglass that I've heard and $120 cheaperm - like my green rhino it just doesn't do completly clean it distorts even at the lowest setting, sounds good with my warwick but not so good with my marcus miller jazz.

Never found the BOSS OD anywhere near natural/fat - sounds like square waves to my ears, which is not a 'natural' sound for bass IMO. I've heard nice clips of the Blueberry in which it is to me a natural-sounding OD.

This is an Xotic BB/clean blend through a VT Bass, recorded direct from the DI out of a Mesa Walkabout. The BB is set to very low gain; the VT fairly clean with its drive at 11:00.

My favourite natural overdrive which doesnt colour your sound AT ALL is turning up your input gain a lot.

If you need a bit more, crank the eq.

Out of what you had listed, I like the boss stompbox.

I prefer a tube overdriven channel.

Like Mark sez there are so many ODB3 pedals out there and many are satisfied with it. I used one for a long time but never really loved it, went thru a pedal frenzy and finally found some I like better, but I went from 1 fuzz on da board to 4 on the big board and 2 on the little. In all I have about a dozen distortion pedals of some flavor or another. Still have the ODB3 because it may still see some use in the studio, last week we used on a guitar part

I don't use my ODB3 anymore either, but our guitarist loves it.

I know it's not an OD but I really liked the Wren and Cuff Phat Phuk. It's a "clean" boost that breaks up a bit when you push it. The only reason I sold mine was because I went on a pedal purge and got rid of every pedal I had. I also just ordered a Baddy One Shoe Wayfarer, I'm really looking forward to this pedal (and you can't beat the price for a handmade boutique pedal).

I use a Fulltone OCD and I get all the lows needed as well as the highs, it has a toggle switch for HighPeak and LowPeak Low, used more for rhythm and high used more for solo, or any other intro that may be needed.

Im actually liking the green rhino more now on the MM jazz, turns out my compression was having an adverse affect on the overdrive, now it is sounding the way I thought it should from the get go. If I had the money the Darkglass microtubes b3k would be my top choice.

Nope. Optional 12bd cut/boost at 100hz makes it ideal for bass imo (i owned and regularly used one until i sold it to my guitarist)

I still love my Fulltone Bass Drive. I was just in the studio with it, and I'm really happy with the tone I got.

BTW, I used a Warwick Corvette $$ on the recording, if you're interested in hearing how it reacts with your bass...

Actually quite the opposite you can boost the lows for a really thick grind via the 100hz boost/cut knob.

1. BJFE Blueberry Bass OD (not the MP version which is kinda "meh"). Its the king.

2. [sfx] Micro RD - sounds great and its tiny. Highly recommended!

3. Darkglass B3K - Is it worth the cash? Not sure, I'd probably buy the BJFE first, but its one beautiful OD pedal and if you have one, you won't sell it.
