I have to admit that I love the Bass VI.
It's that weird hybrid of a bass and guitar, 30" scale tuned an octave below a guitar (or like a 4 string bass with added high B and E strings, depending on how you want to look at it), developed so that a guitarist could play it with a pick in order to double the upright bass as a means of adding more attack and clarity to the bass part.
You'll find them in Spaghetti western soundtracks, country albums, all over The Cure's discography, Glen Campbell's Wichita Lineman, so on and so forth. I've owned a few different versions, and have been playing a really nice one since the pandemic hit.
Last week, I saw this one on Reverb and made a sort of throwaway offer on it that the buyer accepted! Fast forward through the weekend and my new Schecter Ultra VI is here!

See, look at that silver burst! They even bursted the dang neck!
The seller had it strung BEADF#B so I've got to restring it and set it up for EADGbe tuning like a proper VI. But a quick noodling indicates the frets are in good condition, the electronics are functional and sound good, and it's pretty light.
It neck dives, which is to be expected with such a body shape. The headstock badge is honestly hideous and I wish it were just a decal. I don't like glossy necks and will be carefully buffing this one with a Scotch Brite pad to dull it a bit. The binding is yellowish/cream, which doesn't really jive with the pearloid blocks and silverburst, but it's just something that I have to live with.
