NBA finals

Looked like the Dubs had it out the gate and then the third quarter happened. The Warriors managed to pull it back togeher in the fourth and get a win. Was it that 3 pointer at the buzzer by Poole that turned things around?
Boston has their backs against the wall and they are going home. Should be a great game.

On that front, it's too bad that Robert Williams has only been able to put in about 24 minutes a game as he recovers from injuries. He's really important to Boston's defense and rebounding.

yes, and on that same note I would have loved to see James Wiseman available to play as well.
Would have been interesting to see how that match up would have influenced things.

As they say, “there is no ability greater than availability!”

I hope Wiseman eventually gets healthy and lives up to his potential. He could be something special.

The Kings also had Mike Bibby, Jason Williams, Vlade Divac, Chris Webber, and Bobby Jackson at various times. They were loaded, and fun to watch. They were one of the best passing teams I've ever seen. They just couldn't get past the Lakers.
One more thing about the Kings back in the day - the crowd was absolutely NUTS!!! ARCO Arena was the place to be!

I'm hearing the ratings for the finals has been poor... after the playoff ratings were strong. I'm not at all shocked by that. Steph, Klay and Poole are great shooters, but I need more from a team than three-pointers to keep me tuned in.

The lowest rated recent finals was the Lakers-Heat series in 2020

Well Boston just couldn’t get out of their own heads it seemed.
A hot start and then the wind was let out of their sails.
They made a decent run at it but couldn’t ever get the traction they needed, and it seemed GS just had nerves of steel.
Poole really came to play!
Tough ending for Boston to a really great season, I have a feeling that loss is going to provide a lot of inspiration for coming back stronger next year.

Great game by the Dubs. They played their game, and were firing on more cylinders than the Celts. Steph played a great series and a great game. I have to say that to me, Wiggins was the key piece that took them over the top. His game in this series was complete, not just scoring but also rebounding and defense. Much respect.

The Celts have some things to figure out, but they have a strong young core and a classy young coach. They overachieved this year and the future is bright.

Question: Turnovers have been the Celtics' bane for this entire series, but I never watched any of their regular season games so I have no context for this. Were they atypically careless with the ball for these last 6 games, or is Golden State's defense THAT much better than anything the C's previously encountered? There were so many times I'd see the C's do something that just looked sloppy...were they getting away with that kind of reckless ball handling against other teams? I don't remember seeing that many turnovers in the ECF against Miami.

Good question. Both GS and Miami have very good defenses. I Googled and GS was #2 in the regular season in steals while Miami was #2 per game in the playoffs.
It could just be a function of matchups, as Boston put out big lineups while GS went smaller. Or Boston's young lineup just played tight.

Golden State won by beating the Celtics 3 games in a row. Could it be it took them a couple of games to figure out how to beat Boston. I agree with others that Boston is a great young team, strong talent and a rookie coach. Sometimes poise comes with experience and hopefully the Celtics will mature.
Great game by Greene , steals, assists, rebounds and even and some shooting. Very impressed with Robert Williams on Boston.
Congrats to the Dubs for winning the championship and to Boston for winning the east. Both teams overcame a lot to get there.

Three things that were especially gratifying to me about the 2022 NBA Finals:

1) Steph Curry is finally the undisputed MAN in the Finals,

2) Klay Thompson is back after such a long struggle, and

3) I love the fact that the Warriors didn't panic and start trying to build a "superteam." They stuck with their proven nucleus and added excellent young talent, and it paid off. If the Brooklyn Nets had been successful with their "superteam" experiment, I think it would have been very bad for basketball.

In 6 Finals appearances, Steph has averaged 27 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists per game.

Height-wise, I think the dividing line in the NBA is 6'6". I believe that, with the possible exceptions of Oscar Robertson (6'5") and Jerry West (6'3"), Steph Curry is the best under-6'6" player in the history of the game.

I'm just so glad that Steph's resume is now complete. Considering the way he plays, he could easily be great for a few more seasons.
