Good score. I've been looking for a red one from that era - my first bass.
Sweet deal. Still kicking myself for ever getting rid of my Foundation. Great playing and sounding basses that are built like tanks. Congrats on you NBD addition.
Well done! We’re in the same boat. I got this ‘92 for $80 CDN (maybe $65 US) and it really needed TLC. Other than a bit of fret work remaining, it sounds *great*. Enjoy!

These do clean up nicely. I’ve bought a number of foundations and fury’s that we’re in really sketchy shape. Every single one played great after some tlc.

I still have my 86 Foundation S, Pearl White. I bought it new and when I quit playing for 20 years and got rid of all my gear the only thing I kept was that bass. These are built like a tank, I beat the heck out of mine back in the day and it has the scars to prove it. I play in a couple bands now and in one of them this is my main bass. Always feel comfortable when I put that thing on.
Yes, plus sometimes the cheap ones are better than the expensive ones!Basses can be like girlfriends, you realize how great they were when they are long gone!
I've got a stable of foundations that I've paid under $150. My favorite was $75. Great bass, easy to do set ups, fantastic necks. Love the finish on yours... that's one I'm looking for... another one is the Salmon (pink) one.
Don't know how many Foundations I've donated to churches or new bass players, but I know that a lot of people down the road will be talking about the old peavey that they learned on, and how they wish they still had it.
For me my favorite, is the triangle string tree, lightning bolt knobs, and the early pups and monster bridge that you've got on yours. GREAT SCORE!!!

I know there's creative people that have made the truss rod covers, anyone know a good place to buy the material, and do you just heat it up with a heat gun and shape it?

What a steal! They had one of these at my local guitar center last month. Wished I’d grabbed it.
I've owned quite a few Foundations and the early one are the best. I have 2 like that, one CAR and one Silver.
Love my later Foundation. They are great basses from any era...they usually just need a little love. Great score.
