That's awesome. I wonder what caused all the wear towards the top of the pickguard? I've sometimes seen people pluck way up there but maybe it was from pick storage or something.
That looks like thumb wear to me. Many years sliding his plucking hand up and down to get the tone he wanted for the songs. If he used a pick, he'd stick it under the PG below the tug bar side for easy access.
What strings are on it? TI Jazz Rounds?
With as much exposure and wear on that bass, one wonders why the clay dots appear so bright white. Do they look that white in person?
