All original custom color jazz in candy apple red! There is no words for how good this thing sounds!

That's awesome. I wonder what caused all the wear towards the top of the pickguard? I've sometimes seen people pluck way up there but maybe it was from pick storage or something.

That looks like thumb wear to me. Many years sliding his plucking hand up and down to get the tone he wanted for the songs. If he used a pick, he'd stick it under the PG below the tug bar side for easy access.

Yep - it’s wear from picking hand - it’s actually a groove that’s about 1/8” deep - I tried to capture it here

That looks awesome, would love to play something like that. Are those picks after you put the neck back on? It looks like it might be misaligned a bit by the way the strings favour the bass side of the neck on the higher frets compared to the treble side?

This neck is mid way through the transition to pearloid dots - so the dots on the front of the fingerboard are pearloid, but the side dots are clay

Presumably by 60-65 he rather means the years of production.

This is what they are trying to copy when they attempt to make a new bass look roadworn. There is no substitute for the way a bass looks when it has been actually played on stage with wreckless abandon over the years. Not a slam on roadworn basses; just complete admiration for a bass that has been loved this much. Beautiful!
