It has come to my attention that there have been an awful lot of MIJ Yamahas popping up on eBay that are relatively inexpensive. Most also have low cost or free shipping. They have been selling like hot cakes. There were a few I was interested in but hesitated and lost them. Then this thing pops up.I couldn't really find much info on them but I haven't played a Japanese made bass yet that I didn't like.I snagged it less than an hour after it was posted.I had to wait a week for the seller to get permission for the bass to leave the country because of the new CITES laws regarding rosewood.Once it actually shipped, it got here in like 3 days.I just opened it and I am pleased to see the condition it's in. Especially for an instrument of its age.A few very small dings and scratches but less than expected.heck these days people pay to have an instruments look "road worn" so I'll chalk that up to adding character.I may have it refinished someday but for now it's good to go.At least it will be when those Rotosounds get here and I set up the bridge. These strings are dead as Dillinger. Here is the rundown. It has a maple/rosewood jazz bass profiled neck,1 1/2" at the nut,9.5" radius and 21 frets.Alder precision bass shaped body.Humbucker in the neck, single coil in the bridge.Series/parallel push pull for the humbucker which seems to be stuck in the parallel position. It weighs about 9 lbs.I have been playing my Togar basses for so long that I never thought I'd get excited about another bass ever again. Now I feel like I have my own little piece of history. This bass was making music 2 years before i was born.I am quite pleased with this one.
