What annoys me today is that Made in Japan Ibanae used to be affordable. Now they’re silly expensive and Ibanez is making a fortune.

They have created a faux ‘cachet’ about a MIJ instrument and jacked their prices and profits out of site.

Life goes on. Ibanez is near-universally regarded on TB as offering excellent products at each pricepoint. The new 2400 with the Aguilars from Indonesia is the best new-on-the-wall bass I've ever picked up, though I will admit that I don't go around putting shop wear on high dollar new Dingwalls and Sadowskys and such. Ibanez is earning its market share with good products, and also earned any cachet it may have carried over from the FujiGen days.

A 1983 ash 2+2 P Bass was just for sale one town over from me for $345 on facebook marketplace. I have an '81 so I hesitated to pick it up. They are still out there, and they still play like multi thousand dollar Fenders. You just have to look harder.

Was looking for more information on this bass I bought at the pawn shop today!

I know I’m months late but I appreciate all the great info!

I knew it was something fairly special, a bit neglected. It was $250 USD and I offered them $220 which they happily accepted.

Got it home, spent 3 hours cleaning and setting it up! Such a smooth playing bass!
My first ever six string. 1991 btw.

I was on the fence about this bass for a long time — I think I first saw it listed three months ago. I did some homework and one review I read on TB panned the pickups. But after finding this video, I decided I disagreed with those posts.

The woman I picked it up from had a matching black 886 with a Les Claypool “Bass Sucks” autograph, which was cool and worth the extra dollars but so went with the less expensive offering.

This bass is more comfortable than my Tune, which was just too much of a monster for me, no matter how amazing it sounded. This feels much more comfortable. I’m looking forward to a new set of strings and doing a little setup tweaking.

I’ve since sold it. I’d guess 16mm
