The more I play this thing, the more I like it. It definitely has an aggressive sound by default but some fiddling with the controls can tame that somewhat. Much like my StingRay 5H, I think it will sit really nicely in the mix. My next chance to play with an ensemble is Tuesday evening, so we’ll see.
This will need some minor string saddle height adjustments as the four saddles now are more or less at the same height relative to the bridge baseplate for whatever reason.

Nice get! Congratulations. I have always loved the sound of those ceramic pickups on the Sterling. I never bought one as I preferred the neck profile on the Stingray. Now, I wish a HAD purchased a Sterling. Hmmn... that's an idea!
Thanks! I was playing it way too late into the night this evening. I love the strong midrange I'm getting from it, a very musical voice!
Ordered the red pearl pickguard (I figured what the heck). Meanwhile, been playing the new bass in several band situations with very good results. This bass has serious balls and attitude! No shrinking violet this one.

Regarding pickguards: My $0.019 is that a Black Pearloid would look great on that bass; or if you are a bit more adventurous, something like this would be ultra cool:
Pickguard Sheet Blue Crackle Sparkle
I can vouch for Mike Quick’s guards. Reasonably priced and he’s pretty easy to work with. And, his “sparkle” guards are much more showy than the pictures can show. They really light up under spots etc.
What strikes me about this bass is its nastiness—there is nothing polite or restrained about the tone. It sounds especially good when you dig in near the pickup with your fingers. It also sounds nice with a pick, but I haven’t quite found the slap tone out of it that I am looking for. I’ll keep experimenting.
