NBD : 2011 American vintage '75 jazz

Since I've found myself nog longer playing fretless bass, I decided after a long time to sell/trade my fretless 6-string.

Along came this Fender, which a) is easier to sell than a fretless 6, should I not like it; and b) is an interesting bass to finally form an opinion on Fender, since I've never had a real one on my 20ish years of playing.

So far I'm quite liking the bass, it's strung with flatwounds, which work pretty well. Playability is good, but the pickup and bridge cover get too much in the way for my liking. Without covers the feel is great, though.

sorry to hear that you've let your fretless go, but it's great that you've found an ax that you like. and from appearances, it looks like you latched onto a good one --- congratulations on your new instrument!

Nice! Looks just like my 2016 FSA 70's reissue--my fave look for a Jazz, so classic. I also have flats on mine, love it. Do you know what pickups are in it, and is it ash (looks like it)?

Nice! I had a 2000 model that I bought new because I loved the look so much. It was my go-to bass for quite a few years. I also had it's "cousin", a legitimate '75 P-Bass (also in Natural). I ended up trading the Jazz and selling the P only because I eventually grew tired of the Natural look. But I loved them both!!

I'm kinda waiting for the january one, but I did just get a chance to buy this exact model locally, but in 2001/2 version. How are you liking it so far?
And would u mind telling me what you paid/rate the condition? You can just PM it.

Anyway, grats on your new bass! the 75 RIs are some of the best ones out there imo

It's ash alright!

Not sure about the pickups, 2 vintage 75-style single coil jazz pickups is the best description I've found.

Can't go wrong with a GOOD Jazz bass. It will work with anything.

I got one of these too, really nice Jazz. Mine usually wears DR Sunbeams, weighs only about 8.3 lbs.

Playability is good, but the pickup and bridge cover get too much in the way for my liking. Without covers the feel is great, though.

Glad to hear you found yourself a good/great one. And, if removing the covers makes is lighter and more playable, that sounds like a win-win, to me. Personally, I think it looks better without the covers anyway, so...
