NBD - 70s Gibson EB-3

I got a total steal off CL today - a 70s Gibson EB-3. I've named him Bucky (after the mudbucker, of course). He's a bit beat up, and he's missing the pickguard, humbucker guard, and the bridge cover. But he sounds absolutely fantastic. I think I'm in love.

And here he is hanging out with some of the family - Red and Blondie.

Congrats! I had a '76 and it was a great little bass - I enjoyed having it.

As to strings, you can use your favorite brand. If you decide to go with flats I would recommend that you get a set from a manufacturer that makes them in short scale like D'Addario Chromes.

My suggestion - though a BA bridge is nice it looks like it doesn't match up with the pole spacing of the bridge pickup. I would put an original bridge back on only for that - the two points are a notorious PITA to set-up because they tend to rock forward, though once they're set they hold it well. However, Hipshot makes a replacement, though I'd double check the spacing vs an original to make sure:

The bridge pickup doesn't have that much output as it is compared to the 'bucker and maximizing that is what seperates this from the EB0. Just my thoughts - if you're happy as-is, rock on!:bassist:
