NBD - 70's Ric Copy Identification

I'm just a bit confused about the thumbrest. The 2388 and 2389 in the catalogue and the pictures above have thumbrests. My Ibanez didn't have a thumbrest, the users bass doesn't have a thumbrest or srewholes for a thumbrest. Maybe they came without one installed in later years.

is that considered a thumbrest? for your thumb? underneath the strings? for your thumb? a thumbrest?

With the micro-checker binding, I remember when these basses were new. It is probably an Electra, although the factory it came out of made many similar instruments for several different companies. One giveaway is the pickups: these pickups are on many different basses of all kinds, including a Ventura P-copy my high school owned in the '70's.

This looks like your bass. However, the link does not take us to the picture... that I could find, and the logo is too small to read. But look at how the black inlays seem to match yours:

I've looked at that picture a million times thinking the same thing... And it's an Electra (see attached picture). Now I can't remember why I was so sure the body is an Ibanez.

Nice score! Those "lawsuit" basses were pretty well made. You might consider swapping out the bridge pup with a Ric high gain....or not, if you like how it sounds.

Hmmm... Now you got me thinking. Actually, as I'm thinking about it and typing this, I really like how old and completely jacked up the pups are that are in it. It has a sound all its own as is.

Thanks again for all your help everyone. Now I need to decide what to put on the truss rod cover. A couple ideas that I had:

1. Nothing. Leave it blank. It looks pretty sexy as is.
2. My parents gave me the bass for my birthday. Their names are Chuck and Bec, so I was thinking Chuckenbecker. Everyone I've told that idea to thought it was awesome.
3. I've been referring to it as my "Ric Bass", so Ricbass, Rickbass, Ric Bass, or Rick Bass
4. Since it's an Electra Corsair, a couple other ideas were ElectRic, Electrick, or just doing either Electra or Electra Corsair.
5. Any other ideas?
