I've always wanted one of these since they were released. Never thought it would become a reality but I finally found one online last week and for once actually had the funds to pull the trigger. Arrived yesterday and used it at rehearsal. Wow. I am speechless. What a fantastic bass. The negatives I've seen (too heavy, neck too big, string spacing too wide, etc.) aren't there for me. It is not light but I've had heavier and the neck is incredibly comfortable to me. As for string spacing, it just makes sense to me to have the spacing the same as a 4. I have not played a 5 in years but it felt at home to me last night. Didn't really have to adjust any aspect of my playing going from my normal 4 strings to this. I agree with the popular opinion that this is/was one of the best passive 5 string basses Fender ever made. Shame it is out of production.
