NBD: ACG Harlot 5/33

Hi folks

I recently became the very lucky and proud owner of a new ACG bass. This very special bass was built by Alan Cringean @skelf for this year’s winter NAMM.

This is my ninth ACG and it’s an incredibly special bass. The top wood is made from holly onto an ash body with a bloodwood accent. The fingerboard is bloodwood on a maple and bloodwood neck. Electronics consist of the ACG SB single coils under a holly ramp paired with a John East uni pre.

As always with Alan’s builds the quality of the craftsmanship is second to none. The playability and feel of the neck is stellar and the flexibility of the John East preamp affords me the possibility of dialling in various tones. Gotoh resolite tuners and the ACG Hipshot bridge continues the professional quality and function of the instrument.

I’m smitten with this bass and the ease of how it plays. I find some basses you have to fight with to get the sound in your head but in my opinion ACG basses are always very responsive and versatile.
It’s exceptionally well balanced and comfortable to play both standing and seated.

Alan is always a pleasure to deal with as well as being a master luthier who makes amazing basses that both feel and look incredible. If you are thinking about ordering an ACG then absolutely go for it and give Alan a shout.

Alan’s workmanship is absolutely astounding. Ok it may not be a familiar body shape but ergonomically it’s extremely comfortable to play. I’d encourage anyone to try one.

I’m not endorsed by ACG I’m just a huge fan of Alan’s work. He is one of the finest luthiers in the world.
