NBD: Aerodyne P/J

This whole thread is really, really, REALLY LAME! I never really had much interest in a Fender...but now I have GAS! I'm doing google and ebay searches for that beautiful blue bass that DOESN'T have a chunky neck. I feel like this thread was a trap! Nice move, Fender. Nice move.

I really like my Aerodyne, very classy looking. It's black with white binding. The newer black ones (like mine) don't have fret markers. I wanted a color, blue is awesome, but they were running way more than the black when I bought mine last year. I've seen them in black, white, blue, red, grey and gold. Would love to have one in each color. Enjoy, it's a great bass.

That thing is beautiful.

I am just a sucker for that binding. I have seen pretty much any color you'd want on EBay. The Cream with black binding is really nice.

I bought an aerodyne exactly like this last week and I'm loving it. Put on a set of Fender flat wound strings on it and it sounds really great. I really like the lake placid blue finish and the body binding too. I took my week old Gibson Thunderbird back for this bass.

Congrats on the new bass! I have the gunmetal blue 32" JJ Aerodyne and they're great instruments. My wife also says it's the only bass I'm not allowed to sell because it's too pretty

Gorgeous! The ones with the pickguards and colors other than black were made for the Japanese market if i understand correctly. I've had my black one for about 3 months and have been playing it like crazy! Neck is amazing. Strung it with flats, sounds awesome! Congrats!

For the record, if an Aerodyne is all black AND has a Strat-style jack, it's an "Export Edition" and is commonly shipped out of the Japanese market. If has a flush-mounted jack, is another color, has a pickguard, sports a pair of single-coil Jazz pickups or has five strings, it's a "Non-Export Edition" and was made exclusively for Japan (unless you import one yourself).

Fender would be wise to start producing these as part of the MIM line now. There is a market for them.
P and J pickups, matching headstocks, they're not your usual Jazz bass and they shouldn't be a bass of the past.

Fender would be wise to start producing these as part of the MIM line now. There is a market for them.

I'm surprised they haven't yet, but maybe it's something that's in the works? I've always thought of Fender as being a really good marketing company. Say what you will about the quality of the product, but they seem to market it well; similar to Budweiser / Anheuser Busch / Inbev / Whatever They Are Now.

And just to complete the picture, if it has a more P-shaped body and flamed maple cap with a trans red, blue or amber finish, its an Aerodyne P. Also non-export. I love mine!
