NBD: Aerodyne P/J

Well not today actually, but just catching up from a couple days ago. I really wasn't planning on a new bass, but I was looking around at various P/Js and after seeing all the love these Aerodynes were getting here at TB I started looking seriously at them. Then the thing about Fender Japan going away pushed me over the edge and I decided to just go for it. Now that I have it... zero regrets. Absolutely love it!

Im curious about these as well. I only see the black ones available lately. Is this the same specs? How's the neck feel?

Yeah the black ones are what I started looking at first myself. But this one popped up on ebay from a guy in Japan: yasoohmusic1109 is his username. The specs seem basically the same but the black one lists a 34" neck rather than 32" as the one I got. Price was a couple hundred less than list for the black one but there was $130 shipping. That said, the shipping was incredibly fast. Ordered this past Saturday and received on Wednesday. It was very well packed and supplied with gig bag. Shipped detuned, so I tuned it up, peeled the wrap off of the pickguard and played it that night and last night at home as well. It's a really light bass compared to some of my others - just over 8 lbs.

Oh yeah... the neck. I like it a lot. If you prefer a chunky P neck this probably isn't for you though.

It was an ebay deal. I was like you, only seeing the black ones then this popped up in my ebay feed, so I jumped at it. Search for user yasoohmusic1109 on ebay and he might have some more available.

That's absolutely gorgeous those knobs and matching headstock make that bass so classy. I hope Fender adopts those classy touches for some of their other basses and that bass is only going to go up in value enjoy.

I've never seen an Aerodyne that wasn't black. That sure looks sharp! Hope it sounds and plays as good as it looks.

I played a gray one of these for years.

Love that color too. In fact, if that was what had popped up in my feed rather than the blue I'd have a gray one now myself.

Wow, what a beauty. I have a black 34" Aerodyne that I love playing but ever since I played one of the Urge basses (32") I've been really jonesing for a short-ish-scale bass.

As if I needed another reason to be surfing eBay all day...

I know that's right. Weird thing about this one... I was surfing... had been talking to the wife about P/Js and Fender Japan... she says "you know you're going to get one sooner or later, might as well go for it". Ummmm... OK!

wow, that sure is purty! like others in this thread, i've only seen black aerodynes, and i really like 'em, but the blue really stands out, and in a good way.

Gorgeous! The ones with the pickguards and colors other than black were made for the Japanese market if i understand correctly. I've had my black one for about 3 months and have been playing it like crazy! Neck is amazing. Strung it with flats, sounds awesome! Congrats!
