Interesting.., so if I'm reading it correctly, the ring magnets are opposing each other magnetically so when pushed together to release the string capo, it self returns w/o need of a spring-loaded device ala Factor. So does the hook also twist to clear the string when not in use?

There is no twisting needed, there is just enough material to grab the string and easily release it when needed. The mags are apposing each other to form a smooth silent spring action;)

Very cool - I considered a similar leg-rest bar on my recent build but decided against it. I like the concept (both aesthetically and potentially functionally) but felt a wood/horn extension was preferable in the long run. I would like to play that bass someday to check things like that out. The design gestalt is right up my alley - love it!

More progress. This is serial #001 next to serial #-001. #-001 is the prototype, which took us some time to nail the little details. It has now been retired. #001 is having its final fret work completed, body loaded, wired and completed, and will be in time for Santa to show up. And there is a teaser in the picture, the orange one is #003 and the pink one, well, #002 and belongs to our TB friend Jaymi Millard. Basses are production, not proto. Featuring Nordstrand MM pickups, Hipshot bridge and the handiwork of Kerry Davis Guitars. Body is ash, neck is 5 laminate maple. Ebony boards. Keep an eye out for pics and videos soon.

Spade, upgrades are available. Currently the factory standard configuration uses the Nordstrand mm 4.4 quad coil pickups and adds an Oscartone ONBOARD tone control circuit. As this is intended to be a production bass, and not a boutique, options and upgrades will be added at regular intervals. Since the basses are early in production, you could get one now with your desired electronics I am sure. Just email me a message to [email protected] and I will pass it on to Armstrong Instruments/Kerry Davis Guitars.

I'm not currently in the market, but I'll keep this thread in mind if I suddenly have that itch to scratch. Seems like a good enough idea. I just ordered a Cliff Bordwell headless 6.
