1994 MIM Fender Jazz Squier Series. These have an interesting history and anyone feel free to add to it or let me know if I have something wrong. From 1993-1998, Fender had the Squier Series, also known as the black label Fenders, which were made at the Mexico plant. These are wrongly called Squiers sometimes but they are legit Fenders with Fender serial numbers and came with Fender warranties.
They used leftover MIA bodies and necks but with cheaper Squier hardware. It was the low end, the Traditional was in the middle and the Standard was the top MIM. The 94-95 models actually had American made bodies and necks that were shipped to Mexico because the fire that burned down the Mexico plant in Feb 94 destroyed all the wood. Rumor is the 94 models were actually made in the US during the 4 months the Mexico factory was down.
Everything is stock on this one and it’s in pretty good condition for being 25 years old. Really like the stock pickups which are ceramic. They are hotter and more aggressive sounding then the Alnico pickups in the Player Series Jazz basses. These also have 7.5” radius necks as opposed to the more common 9.5” radius. Might put a HiMass bridge on and replace the tuners because they are pretty worn. Really like it so far!
