Is that an ebony fretboard, or super duper dark rosewood?

It's actually a maple fingerboard/maple neck. The fingerboard is also finished blue, like the back of the neck & the body. The white Larry Graham is white all over. They do the same thing with custom colors. It's stunning in person.

How do you like that angled neck pickup? It seems designed for slap.

Reminds me of the old Delta Airlines logo with the blue widget. My dad worked for Delta in the 70s and 80s and when I wanted to paint a bicycle I was building he gave me a couple cans of blue touch up paint Delta used on their jets, and my bike wound up looking very close in color to your bass.

Moon makes great instruments. I go way back with the man...about 40 years. He used to come over from Japan for the NAMM show, and would spend a lot of time at the Alembic booth since he used those pickups in his basses back in the day. He is a very kind and talented luthier. I wish I could remember his name, but he was a one man show back then, handcrafting each instrument. Good stuff!

That’s really interesting. I’ll have to do a little googling on that one. All I know is they told me they only do custom orders now. This bass plays amazingly. Whoever made it knew what they were doing!

I’m sure it makes a difference but I’m not sure I can define it. The bass is punchy. But it’s also active with Bartolinis. So multiple contributing factors to its great tone.
