I placed a custom order with John at BMV back in April for a custom DeVille P Bass, during his shelter in place sale. Well it finally got here and it’s really nice. It plays really well, and feels really good in the hands. I asked for a fairly modern P bass profile neck and that’s what I seemed to get. I had it loaded with a BAII bridge, and an EMG GZR pickup. The only thing that was a little off was the color. I asked for a fiesta red, and I feel the color came out more Dakota. Regardless, it looks awesome. I’ll be able to play it Sunday at band practice to see how it sits in the mix compared to the Nash JB-63.

Very nice bass and very nice collection of instruments on the wall there!

I have a Bluesman Vintage Deville and it is just so great. I cannot imagine feeling more comfortable on a bass than I do on this one. It is crazy. Sounds awesome, too. how would you compare and contrast John's work with that of Nash?

Thanks!

The Nash is really nice as well. One thing is that the tuners and the pots are all so easy to turn on the BMV, while the Nash is a bit stiffer and more difficult. But the Nash is an '07 that I bought used, so that could probably be remedied by cleaning and greasing the tuners.

Both are built great and just feel so good in my hands. But to be honest, if I was to build a new one (which I might do with the Jazz) I'd go BMV again. I have been very impressed with Jon and his work, his communication etc. You do have to be patient though! It was nearly 6 months wait, but it's been well worth it.
