I got this off of Reverb . I read some reviews from some years ago and wanted to get one in natural a few years ago but they were not being made anymore..
It's a great bass! Very solid construction ... These used to sell on Rondo but were discontinued for a while.. I saw a recent post that said they were making them again with a bolt on neck but I do not see it on Rondo's site. Very well made.. the finish is flawless and it's and it is more of a Merlot.. like my Zoom B3..
The hardware and neck are in great shape. The frets are also very nice.. no sharp edges whatsoever. I already changed the strings with a set if D'Addario Nickel XL170s.. Even the stock electronics which from all the reviews on TB of this bass were it's major weak link, with my B3 are adequate , they just don't have any umph behind them.. The thing weighs in at 9.5lbs give or take a few ounces.. and the neck , while it is a little thick is not a baseball bat.. Width of the neck is 2 ¼" at the nut and 3 5/8" at the 24th fret. String spacing is 3 5/8" at the bridge and 1/4" string to string at the nut. Thickness is 21mm at the nut and 23.5mm at the 12th fret. All in all I am very impressed with this bass.. I may put a Nordy 3b-4b in it.. and maybe replace the pups.. but I think I will be keeping this bass for a while... If I am going to ever get acclimated on a 6 it will be with this bass. One thing that kind of freaked me out, not being familiar with the single saddle construction , when I took the strings off to clean the fretboard and turned it over all the saddle shoes fell out except for the one on the B string. Nothing was bolted down within the saddle itself so I had to figure out where everything went but I think I got it back ok.. I have a set of gold Dunlop DD strap pins enroute.. I was very impressed with this bass and the construction is so solid it would make an excellent modding platform.. Most of the other 6ers I was looking at were heavier and at least $300 more than I paid for this.. Basically I sold my fretless Brice and got this with the proceeds..
Even when these basses were going new the price point was not bad at all for what you got.. I can't find that post with the new ones but I read somewhere else that the newer ones are being made in China..
