Never done a NBD post, so now I think I shall...even though the bass is used 
Braved the horrendus 30 degree temperature (hey, were not used to this stuff in the south) to take delivery of my Carvin Bunny Brunel 4 string!
I've always loved the Bunny design and have wanted to try one for a looong time. I've built so many of them on Carvin's site but just never pulled the trigger. And of course these are absolute steals on the used market so I've kinda kept an eye open for the right one. Well, she popped up. I have certain things I like in a bass as far as options, but I had two REQUIREMENTS for a Carvin....a 5 piece neck with tung oil finish, and the MM humbucker at the bridge. Anything else is a bonus, but in this case this one is almost identical to my favorite Bunny that I built on their site, except that I would have ordered a flamed top instead of quilt. I like quilt, but not $400 extra worth. So nice bonus there. I also love birdseye maple fingerboards, but wouldn't pay extra for one...so bonus again! Same thing with matching headstock.
I think this one is from the mid 2000's or so, going by the Hipshot B bridge and 9v electronics. It's in fantastic condition. The neck feels wonderful. Love the oil finish and the width and profile are just what I was looking for. Wider and fatter than a J neck.
It has an issue with the preamp, but I can get around that. It works in passive just fine for now. I've got a preamp and pickups on the shelf ready to go if need be
I was a little shocked when I put her on the scale...7lbs 14oz! She's a featherweight! Already got a set of Dunlop SuperBrights on it and they sound great on this bass. The strings that were on it were horridly dead.
This also kinda is a throwback for me. My first bass was a GTX P bass knockoff. My second bass? A Carvin LB76, 6 string fretless! Ordered it in 1992 or so. I wanted so bad to be Les Claypool! It had a maple neck and koa wings, sold it somewhere down the line. Had a few used Carvins after that, but they never stuck around. So I'm pretty familiar with them and glad to have another Carvin in the stable.
