I got my VK5 with the sweepable mids but changed it out to the 2 band with the tone control. To me it's easier to manage my tone this way.

You and I think a like on this issue. I find variable mids offer so many options that it is hard to remember how you got a sound.

I had a text convo with ben Jones and he felt the same way! Here is mine before I ordered the 2 band pre from Carvin. But let me tell you that getting the 2 band pre after the fact was truly a nightmare!! But it was worth it.
