Actually it plays pretty good. The fretwork is well done.Rick's have narrow spacing typically. I wonder if this pickup would be ok with an appropriately spaced bridge.
How's the neck/fretwork feel? Does it play alright? I'm not in the market at all, just curious. Edit: my bad, you basically answered this.
I really love the color. And the inlays look pretty good to me too.
the bridge pickup is not wide enough. So the G string is not even over the pickup magnets (see pic) and if you solo that pickup, forget about using the G string!
Actually not. I thought so too at first. But the neck is fairly wide especially where it meets the body. I am pretty sure it’s a standard 18mm or 19mm string spacing. Not what it is on a real Rick. So with a narrower bridge the strings wouldn’t be spaced right on the neck. The problem ain't the pickup.
The problem is that they've used completely the wrong bridge (much too wide spacing), and then made matters worse by installing it off centre, and at an angle (in an apparent attempt to narrow the spacing, after having already drilled the hole on E side, before realising it's the wrong bridge, and I guess not having the correct on available).

The intonation is good though, guess that’s one plus! LolEven if the bridge is the correct spacing for that neck, it isn't mounted in the correct place, and it's skew-whiff.
It balances ok. It’s 34” scale. Don’t think Rickenbacker ever made a 34” scale bass. Also the string spacing is more like a fender.Congratulations!
The angles in the pics probably make it look worse than it actually is.
How does it balance ? And did they get the scale right ?
