NBD: CLF Research (G&L) L-1000

Coeur d'Alene a bit far from Eugene, Oregon, but the GC here has a really nice one if you're after one. Came from an immaculate collection, & it plays so nice. I bought a Jazz from the same collection that I'll do an NBD thread on shortly, & another TBer bought a mint Sadowsky...all from the same source. I think GC wants a grand, clear coat with rosewood FB. It's purty

Which GC?

RATS! I was taking some pictures of my basses and in the light of the room, I saw what looked to be a crack in the finish. And, sadly, it did turn out to be a crack in the finish. :(

I looked at pix over the last year that I've had the bass and I can't seem to see it in earlier pictures. But I'm not sure how it happened or where it came from. It is definitely there and I can feel it with the edge of my fingernail. Here's hoping it doesn't get worse!

no idea. i got it in early Feb of last year, so it's just over a year. What could they do anyway if it was? I suppose I can look at the docs I have with it...

edit to add:
Ok, according to the G&L warranty card, there's a 10 year warranty, but it says to send in the card within 10 days of purchase. I didn't do that. But the website indicates to contact the dealer.

Contacting dealer!

Hoping for a good outcome. I have its twin amongst my hoard...er herd, and will be checking it closely. :eyebrow:

Good Luck & please keep us updated

Ignorant question … I like a lot the CLF L-1000 bass but I can’t find one in Italy at the moment (whether new or second hand) .. however, I had found a new and very tidy L-2000 in Spanish Copper finish .. the question is: are the L-2000 neck pickup and the L-1000 pickup locations identical or there’s a difference between the two?
Thanks for any answers …

They're in identical position. I love the neck pup in series on my L2K.

Forgot to update. I didn't get it fixed. I forgot what G&L said, but I seem to think it involved potentially sending it out for assessment and repair; not worth it IMO.

In the meantime, I gigged with it last week for the first time in 19 months or so and fell in love all over again.

Let it wear it like a battlescar! Might get more of those in the future anyways. Just sayin :D
