NBD: Completed the essentials

I've mostly focused on guitar the past couple of years but very excited to finally get a Jazz Bass again. I got it for a pretty decent price (450 CAD / 322 USD) from a guy who's closing down his rehearsal space/studio and moving out of the country.

Excited to finally have bass to put roundwounds on and play more rock, growly stuff since I've kept my PBass as my motown/flats bass.

I did notice that there is quite a few witness lines on this bass, with one being quite prominent, will this raise any issues if I can feel the lines? Is it the wood separating or simply a paint buildup that moves due to humidity

What are you calling witness lines? I see nothing obvious in your photos.

The highlights in the paint under the strings? Looks like wood grain to me.

I see what you are taking about behind the bridge pup. I don't consider it an issue, I have them in a couple of my basses too. I don't know what causes them, but I figured it was the wood drying out.

Fender bodies are usually multiple pieces of wood. I think thats just the joint. I’ve had Fenders with those and never had any problem, even after years/decades.

Wood is a material that moves around a bit - whatever shape you give it when you first make it, it's gonna improvise a bit on that theme throughout its life. Putting a gloss finish on wood, and expecting it to look flat and perfect for decades....just isn't realistic.

Your bass is fine. Play the damn thing.

I love that rosewood fretboard!

Don't worry about the lines. The back of my 2017 USA Geddy is covered with those, and there are a few on the front as well.
Playability and sound are not effected.
Consider it mojo.
