NBD Cort Curbow

This arrived on Wednesday but this is the 1st chance I've had with it.

All new to me Luthite,Ebonol and Cort. Apart from the striking look and good build quality
and the light weight the size was quite deceptive. Here's a comparison shot.

I'd heard it was odd to play seated due to the wee horn but never found it to be the case
and the Luthite must be dense because there was almost no vibration felt from the body.
The neck is a joy to play, never noticed any difference with the Ebonol fingerboard, with a
sweet low action, no fret buzz and every note clear. A good set up right out of the box.

Plugged in no hum or hiss just quality sound. I've no idea when the strings were last changed
or what it's strung with but it's got a good punchy sound with plenty of mid range and as i
said clear as a bell.

I've no plans to be changing anything apart from strings, further playing with the slap controls
will reveal more tones but bottom line is damn I'm glad I've this bass, can see a lot of hours
spent with this and maybe a Curbow 5 to keep it company.

Congrats. These basses punch way above their weight class, imho. Great players.

Love mine in metallic red. Still think it's their best color, but yours is really nice. I've never seen it before. Is it white or do they call it something else?

I've had five of these - my favorite was one with the ice crazer finish. Now the reason why I say "had" as in the past tense, is that ultimately, it wasn't a bass for me. As I had five, you can probably imagine I had a love/hate relationship with these basses for a period of time. :) I've had the older ones with Mighty Mite pickup as well as the more recent ones with the Bartolini- definitely prefer the latter.
Congrats!
To the post above mine, actually they now make wood curbow basses with two pickups, and rosewood fretboard. (they still make the luthite ones too)

Congrats on the acquisition! I never enjoyed the luthite Curbows myself, aside from a fretless I played, but I am absolutely DIGGING my Curbow 52. As Maxdusty said, the new ones are real wood (Canadian hard and soft maple for the neck and body respectively IIRC) and come stock with Bartolini pups. I love mine so much more than any Curbow I had played before it and am really happy to own such a great 5-string. I can definitely see why it won NAMM Best in Show for basses in 2012!

Digging that white by the way, never saw one in white! Seen the red and blue already discussed here, as well as a weird puke-ish color in a fretless that I found/played/enjoyed greatly!

nice buy! I've had mine since they came out (98 or so?) And man, have I put some miles on it. I love it to death. I have a "burled wallnut" finish 5 string. Everyone always says how cool it looks and how different it sounds. Truly a unique bass. Congrats man.
Btw, I put the DR black beauties on mine and it looks killer next to the black fretboard.
