NBD: Cutlass and Caprice

I love my Precision, but I will confess that there are times that it just feels big and a little clunky. The Cutlass immediately appealed to me as a pared down, better made version. Is the Cutlass body smaller than a P?

Also I like the idea of quality belied by a (o.k. my opinion) budget looking bass. Like a super Bullet bass.

That shallower angle on the hips makes a pretty big difference in feel but they are about the same size. The 1.65” nut (this p is 1.75”), more ergonomic pickup screw shaping, and neck plate cutaway shaping do make it feel less clunky. But I prefer a P body shape to a J body shape, and the same is true here I like the Cutlass body shape more than the Caprice.

The Cutlass is the one I am grabbing the most.

Although the E strings on both EBMM's don't line up perfectly with the PU poles on the neck PU, if you're into that kind of thing

Talked him down to letting me walk out with both for $2500 flat, but they were already previously marked down to $1299 for the Caprice and $1399 for the Cutlass.

Im in DC too. Ive probably played those exact basses. I drove to 4 different GC's in the DMV to play these basses . I preferred the Caprice but wanted it in the Diamond blue/maple like the Cutlass. So I had to order mine. Which GC did you get them from? You got a great deal.

The one in Rockville, you probably did play these same basses, that's cool! I know the Cutlass had been there for months I had gone back to it several times.
