New D64 arrived last week, and fortunately it plays just like the one I got a month ago. Danelectro replaced my white 64 with this one (crack at the neck pocket) and I'm very happy I took a chance buying it without playing it first. The neck is wide (to me) and flat (1 and 11/16th at the nut), and it was set up with the action nice and low.
You've got a big single coil at the neck, and lipstick humbuckers at the bridge. It freakin growls. The coil tap on the bridge pickup doesn't really change the tone too much, but gives you an instant volume change. For some reason the output on this bass is almost as hot as an active one.
I'm a happy Skillet
