Still enjoying this bass ? I just realized the finish has a slight sparkle to it. Nice !! I always thought it was just a bright white .

Thanks. This is by far the best Fender I have owned sonically and I have owned a few Squiers, MIM P’s and J’s and two MIA P’s. It must be the vintage style P pickup because it sounds great in my hands. I sold my last MIA P less then a year ago because I didn’t like how it sounded in my hands. Same with the others. This one is perfect. The TBX is the icing on the cake as well. The tone range is the best I heard in a tone control

I really want a passive P bass again and just found out about this. How come yours does not have the pickguard? I've seen a few like this...
Also, can you get a traditional Motown sound out of it with just the P pickup or is it voiced differently?

I have the original Duff signature bass that does not have a pickguard. The new version does have a pickguard.
Yes you can get a traditional Motown sound.

I highly recommend them. I like the original better because you get two volumes a three way switch and TBX tone control. The newer deluxe version only has a single master volume so you can’t get those in between sounds. I like the looks of the original better as well.

I found this definition.
The Treble Bass Expander (TBX) is a stacked and detented 250K/1Meg potentiometer that expands your tonal palette. It functions as a standard tone control from 1 to 5, after which it decreases resistance, sending more bass, treble, presence and output to your amp
