So after a few months with major GASsing over one of these I finally got it: a Super Bass by Eagle basses (not such a known brand I know), but a fine bass nonetheless. I got a great deal on this, the equivalent of $110 US. What can I say, at first I thought these basses were a joke, but a closer inspection at the shop allowed me to see the build quality is actually quite good. The neck fits the pocket like a glove, and its finish, as well as the finish on the body, are almost flawless. Looks like the builders are using good woods for the bodies too, I could check that with a bass the same model with a sunburst finish, the grain was very nice, looked like ash or something similar.
I was also amazed at the great tone this bass has. On both sound and feel it is on the samel level as a Squier, and even some Fenders I've played. It needed a small setup, but I could manage to set the action relatively low, with little to no fretbuzz on some spots. However the fretboard is not perfect and it might need a fret leveling at some point. A nice detail is the grain on the FB, very nice one. Also, I had never had a bass this color, and it's growing a lot on me. The tuning machines don't turn very smoothly, but notnhing that cannot be fixed with a little bit of oil.
Anyway, here she is, in all her glory. Sorry about the pics not being top notch, I might take some during the next couple of days with some sunlight.
