That's a beautiful bass! The backplate is essentially seamless which in unreal.

As I scrolled I was dreading seeing the exposed neck heel on the body, which Rob likes to do even though it severely detracts from the look of the bass, IMO. Glad you got the koa there, too!

this bass was all Spec’d out by the time I purchased it. My only option was upgrading to the aero pickups. He chose to put the neck cover in and I’m thrilled with it!!

rob also informed me that this bass is all made from the same slab of koa. That’s pretty cool also!!

Big +1 on the neck cover. Never understood why he builds so many basses without it which looks really awful. That's a gorgeous bass.

How is the neck heel here different to Rob's usual builds? So far as I can see, the bolt pattern and the way her carves the body wood where the neck join is is much the same.

the front part of the neck heel. The piece in between the neck and neck pickup. Rob usually leaves the neck visible. He’s started adding neck cover plates. This one has it.

ROFLMAO.......I have flipped a stoopid number of basses....and there are only a few regrets along the way.....that was among my top 3 regrets. I still have GAS for a passive 34" NJS 5....

I’ve flipped a stupid amount of elricks!! I tried counting and remembering all the elricks I’ve owned. I think I’m in the 35+ range. Haha!!!

I had a brief conversation with him about it. He said that people like to see how their bass is put together (paraphrasing). I think 90% or more would prefer the cover.

Dang, I didn't even notice the backplate until it was mentioned. If that was held on with magnets it would be nearly invisible.
