I scooped one of these up earlier this year. Fantastic sounding and playing bass. It' my number one recording bass now.

Is it just me, or do Explorer-shaped basses only look cool when played with a pick? To my eyes, strapped on, and playing with your fingers, it just don't capture that rock n' roll vibe, to my eye, for some reason.

I have a 2001 Hamer version in black that I bought new. That style is very cool and plays well, just took me a little getting used to the top "V" sticking up under my arm. Yours is a beauty. Enjoy.

I’ve been playing closer to the neck than normal, with my forearm on the V. Weird but kinda comfy.

I had my eye on this 2016 Epiphone Limited Edition Explorer for quite a while. It felt a bit expensive for the features, but it was kicking around the store for months, so they were willing to take a few dollars off and I took it home this weekend.

I’ll be looking for some gold strings, which I think will look pretty sharp.

I'd love to see a traditional Western Swing band with a bassist sporting an Explorer and the guitarist with a Flying V.
Maybe I'm overdue for therapy, but the whole idea appeals to me.

I stand corrected, kinda . Anyone with the nickname Thunder Fingers, can play whatever they want, and still look cool. So, the question is, is anyone else cool enough to pull it off? To my eyes, some instruments just look like they were made to be played with a pick.

Yes, there was only one (this one) in Ontario a few months ago, but now there are four or five. Not sure about other provinces. I think they are exclusive to L&M in Canada.

They ARE light weight vs. the amount of wood seen, great basses.

JC is contemplating replacing the pickups with gold-covered Epi Embassy/T-Bird pickups and gold rings. Stock pickups are good but the ProBuckers in the above 2 Epi's sound better to my ears(and rigs used).

No, you just have to stand really still and play blistering runs that defy logic....
