NBD...Fender Aerodyne Precision Bass.

Possibly 93 then...dunno, was what the listing said and that coupled with it's basically unmolested condition took it is such. If it is, it lived under a bed the whole time. I suppose it could have been a transposition when one of the minions posted it, but of no consequence to me either way. I will have to look up the serial when I get home.

^^^What he said LOL^^^ The binding and lack of contour makes it seem a little larger, like the slab tele bodies except for the weird double convex contour.

Yes it is Japanese. The dealer I got it from buys/sells all over the world and at this point I am uncertain of it's actual age. What I DO know is that is in virtually un-played condition with the back of the satin neck being as white as it could be with no yellowing or sheen from being played at all and all hardware it rust/oxidization free and unmolested. With the exception of a gawd awful tort guard someone installed I would say it lived in a case all it's life, however long that has been. What I do know is (1) I rarely see them either except from Japanese sellers, (2) It is frikken cool and plays like a dream after a proper setup, and (3) I finally have one, which makes me happy. I'm pretty good on my Fender facts and have done work for this dealer in the past (re-finishing) but I'm a dummy on this one.

Congrats they are just beautiful and are very well made I still don't know why Fender doesn't make them available in US stores?

Incorrect. Mine has a CIJ Sxxxxxx serial umber which dates it to the 2006-2008 era according to Fender support. I bought mine new in 2010 from a gray market dealer, so this fits.

Mine is amber and my favorite bass. Great P/J tone and people always comment on it. Many don't think it's a Fender at first.

Right. "Japan only" models are a little hard to place sometimes...don't know and don't care, great bass. Post a pic of yours, I'd love to see it.
